Indian shares gave up early gains to end on a flat note Friday, tracking weak cues from Asia and Europe as Amazon reported disappointing earnings and fresh losses in Chinese markets stirred debates about China’s policy risks.
The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex dropped 66.23 points, or 0.13 percent, to 52,586.84, while the broader NSE Nifty index slipped 15.40 points, or 0.10 percent, to 15,763.05.
UPL, SBI, Hindalco, Bajaj FinServ and Bajaj FinServ fell 1-2 percent in the Nifty pack, while Sun Pharma jumped as much as 10 percent and Tech Mahindra surged 7.1 percent after reporting strong June quarter earnings.
Shree Cement, Adani Ports and Cipla climbed 2-4 percent.
