Indian shares were a tad higher in early trade on Thursday despite mixed global cues.

The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex rose 230 points, or 0.4 percent, to 52,536, while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 65 points, or 0.4 percent, at 15,752.

Reliance Industries was little changed ahead of its annual general meeting.

Tata Motors gained half a percent. The company has announced a tie-up with Kotak Mahindra Bank to offer easy car financing solutions for its customers.

Jaypee Infratech slumped 4.6 percent as Suraksha ARC won the bid to take over the company.

UCO Bank advanced 1.4 percent after its board approved raising up to Rs 500 crore in Tier II capital.

Orchid Pharma lost 10 percent. Promoter Dhanuka Laboratories plans to sell up to 32.80 lakh shares in the company through an offer for sale.

Piramal Enterprises fell about 1 percent ahead of a board meeting next week to consider raising up to Rs 1,000 crore through the issue of secured NCDs.

Infosys climbed 1.2 percent. The company’s Rs. 9,200 crore share buyback program will open on Friday.
