The Personal Income and Spending might special attention of investors on Friday. On the earnings front, after the close of trading, major corporates Apple (AAPL) and Intel (INTC) would report their earnings.

In the Asian trading session, the dollar gained, while gold hovered near record levels. Oil prices climbed.

Early trends on the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open higher. As of 7.45 am ET, the Dow futures were up 143.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were adding 28.25 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were progressing 167.25 points.

The U.S. major averages finished higher on Thursday. The Dow climbed 168.61 points or 0.4 percent to 44,882.13. The S&P 500 also advanced 31.86 points or 0.5 percent to 6,071.17, while the Nasdaq rose 49.43 points or 0.3 percent to 19,681.75.

On the economic front, the Personal Income and Outlays for December will be issued at 8.30 am ET. The consensus for personal income is an increase of 0.4 percent, while it was up 0.3 percent in the prior month.

The Employment Cost Index for the fourth quarter is scheduled at 8.30 am ET. The consensus is for an increase of 0.9 percent, while it was up 0.8 percent in the prior quarter.

The Chicago PMI for January will be published at 9.45 am ET. The consensus is for an increase of 40.0, while it was up 36.9 in the prior month.

The Baker Hughes Rig Count for the week will be released at 1.00 pm ET. In the prior week, the North America rig count was 821, while it was up 576 in the prior week.
