Investors might be reacting to the Jobless claims report and the minutes of FOMC on Wednesday.

In the Asian trading session, oil prices inched up, gold ticked higher.

Asian shares finished mixed, while European shares are trading in negative territory. Initial signs from the U.S. Futures Index suggest that Wall Street might open lower.

As of 7.55 am ET, the Dow futures were losing 101.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were down 14.25 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were sliding 56.00 points.

The U.S. major averages remained firmly in the red on Tuesday. The Nasdaq tumbled 375.30 points or 1.9 percent to 19,489.68, the S&P 500 slumped 66.35 points or 1.1 percent to 5,909.03 and the Dow fell 178.20 points or 0.4 percent to 42,528.36.

The ADP Employment Report for December will be issued at 8.15 am ET. The consensus is for an increase of 134,000, while it was up 146,000 in the prior month.

The Jobless Claims for the week is scheduled at 8.30 am ET. The consensus is for an increase of 216K, while it was up 211K in the prior week.

The Wholesale Inventories (Preliminary) report for November is expected at 10.00 am ET. The consensus is for a decline of 0.2 percent, while it was up 0.2 percent in the prior month.

The Energy Information Administration or EIA’s Petroleum Status Report for the week will be released at 10.30 am ET. In the prior week, the crude oil inventories were down 1.2 million barrels and the gasoline inventories were up 7.7 million barrels.

EIA’s Natural Gas report for the week will be revealed at 12.00 pm ET. In the prior week, the gas stock was down 116 bcf.

Thirty-year Treasury bond auction will be held at 1.00 pm ET.

The Federal Open Market Committee or FOMC Minutes will be published at 2.00 pm ET.

The Consumer Credit for November will be issued at 3.00 pm ET. The consensus is $11.8 billion, while it was up $19.2 billion last year.

Asian stocks ended mixed on Wednesday. China’s Shanghai Composite index finished marginally higher at 3,230.17. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slid 0.9 percent to 19,279.84.

Japanese markets edged lower. The Nikkei 225 Index dipped 0.3 percent to 39,981.06, while the broader Topix Index settled 0.6 percent lower at 2,770.

Australian markets rose on Wednesday. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index climbed 0.8 percent to 8,349.10. The broader All Ordinaries Index closed up 0.7 percent at 8,599.40.

New Zealand’s benchmark S&P/NZX-50 Index finished marginally higher at 13,043.11.
