Indian shares opened on a strong note Tuesday after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government is in no hurry to unwind pandemic-era stimulus.
The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 345 points, or 0.6 percent, to 62,109 while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 97 points, or half a percent, at 18,574.
Hindustan Unilever advanced 1.5 percent and Nestle India edged up slightly ahead of their earnings results.
Tata Coffee soared 7 percent after it reported higher consolidated profit of Rs 34.04 crore in Q2FY22 against Rs 23.20 crore in Q2FY21.
Larsen and Toubro jumped 3 percent after it emerged as the lowest bidder for the proposed new Common Central Secretariat project.
CG Power & Industrial Solutions rallied 5 percent after it signed a binding term sheet with Evie Real Estate for sale of the company’s property at Kanjurmarg.
Larsen & Toubro Infotech soared more than 13 percent after it reported higher-than-expected earnings for the September quarter.
SBI rose over 1 percent after raising Rs. 6,000 crore via a bonds issue.
SAIL was little changed. LIC has offloaded 82,802,533 equity shares in the company.
Reliance Industries rose 0.6 percent. Reliance Retail got NCLT permission to seek creditors’ nod for its proposed deal with Future Group.
