Indian shares opened on a strong note Thursday as U.S. debt ceiling concerns eased and Russia reassured Europe on gas supplies.

The benchmark 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 593 points, or 1 percent, to 59,783 in early trade, while the broader NSE Nifty index was up 168 points, or 1 percent, at 17,814.

Titan Company shares jumped 8 percent after the Tata Group firm said it has witnessed a strong recovery in demand in the July-September quarter.

Reliance Industries advanced 1.2 percent on news that its subsidiary Retail Ventures Limited will launch 7-Eleven Convenience stores in India.

PNB Housing Finance gained 0.6 percent. The company has joined hands with CSC e-Governance Services India to provide last-mile home loan facilities to individuals living in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Nazara Technologies rallied almost 3 percent. The company said its board has approved a preferential allotment of fresh equity shares worth Rs 315.30 crore to institutional investors.

Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea both rose over 1 percent after the government permitted 100 percent foreign direct investment (FDI) under automatic route in the telecom services sector.
