Indian shares were marginally lower on Thursday after having begun the day’s trade in positive territory.

The benchmark BSE Sensex slipped 23 points to 54,345, while the broader NSE Nifty index was down 10 points at 16,249.

Vodafone Idea shares plunged 15 percent to extend recent losses as Kumar Mangalam Birla stepped down as non-executive chairman of the company.

Titan Company declined 1.5 percent after it reported a whopping 97 percent fall in quarterly profit.

HPCL tumbled 2.6 percent after its quarterly profit fell 36 percent from last year because of lower crude throughput.

Adani Power fell 2.5 percent and Indiabulls Housing Finance dropped around 1 percent ahead of their earnings results.

SBI Life Insurance Company edged down slightly. U.S. private equity fund CA Emerald Investments plans to sell its entire 1.9 percent stake in the company.

Shipping Corporation of India rallied 2.4 percent after it approved a scheme of arrangement for demerger of ‘non-core assets’.

Adani Total Gas gave up 1 percent despite reporting a three-fold jump in its June 2021 quarter net profit.

Reliance Industries rose 0.6 percent on news it is looking to double its PET recycling capacity.
